Independent set to contest Sedgefield

Sedgefield Councillor Paul Gittins looks set to contest the by-election as an Independent candidate.

He was one of the independent candidates who gained the Shafto St Marys ward from the three labour councillors in the 2007 local elections. One of the defeated trio was the Labour leader of Sedgefield Borough Council.

His family are well known in the area for running a green grocers shop.
